Digital Cinema is playing out films at theatres digitally, as opposed to the traditional celluloid format. The Films are digitized with the help of digital encoders and stored in hard disks. Typical file size is 80Gbytes (MPEG2/MPEG4). This digitized content is sent to the remote theatres, either on hard disks or it can be transmitted using satellite or a fiber network. The remote theatres receive this content and it is stored on a Playback Nano server. This is projected on a screen using DLP projectors.
